Shannon Chatfield was raised in South Lake Tahoe, California, but has lived in San Diego county since 2011. She attended UC Santa Cruz where she majored in Language Studies with a dual emphasis in Spanish and Italian. After college, Ms. Chatfield joined AmeriCorps. During her 2 years in AmeriCorps she worked as a Literacy Tutor in Salinas, California and it was there she discovered her love for teaching. In 2021, she received her Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Literacy from San Diego State University.

Ms. Chatfield has worked at Elevate since 2017. Before coming to Elevate she taught in the Chula Vista Elementary School District.

Shannon lives in San Diego with her husband, Peter (a second grade teacher in Chula Vista), and their dogs named Dinosaur (Dina) & Iguanodon (Iggy).
