Karinne Caisse grew up in the Sierra Tahoe foothills and moved to San Diego in 2012, where she studied Classical Studies and Archaeology at UC San Diego. She loves reading and writing and being outdoors in any way possible -- rock climbing, camping, running, and gardening.

As a published author and former freelance editor, Karinne is passionate about helping young people discover their own love for writing. She worked on developing a nonprofit, The Krinkled Page, for several years, building and teaching creative writing workshops for students of all ages. Karinne has been especially passionate about working with teens and has done so in a number of settings, including substitute teaching, coaching fencing, and acting as a "dorm mom." After five years of working with teens in a variety of educational settings, Karinne took the next steps of acquiring her teaching credential from High Tech High's Graduate School of Education. Last year, her 8th-grade class became published authors of their own short stories! As a Humanities teacher at Elevate, Karinne looks forward to bringing that love for writing to more students and helping them in their journeys to discovering and telling their own stories.
