Ginger Van Zant has lived in the Tierrasanta Community with her husband for over 20 years and has lived her entire life in San Diego county. Ginger have been dedicated to providing quality, engaging educational experiences to all students for over 40 years. She started her career teaching English, French and Reading with San Diego Unified School District. Later in her career, she became a Resource Teacher—writing curriculum and implement programs at Bell Junior High School.
Mrs. Van Zant was a founding member of O’Farrell Community School which eventually became one of the first charter schools in California. After O’Farrell, she became an assistant principal at Correia Junior High School, and later, at Kearny High School. Following Kearny High School, Mrs. Van Zant became Principal of Muir Alternative School. After her experiences as a teacher, district resource teacher and administrator at SDUSD, Mrs. Van Zant become Principal at Lindo Park School in Lakeside Union School District. In addition to her experiences at a variety of school sites and levels, she has written curriculum and taught on-line school administration courses.
Mrs. Van Zant comes from a long line of educators and truly believes that public education is a cornerstone of our democracy. She is a graduate of San Diego State University and Point Loma Nazarene College. Mrs. Van Zant is honored to support her Tierrasanta community and their children as a school board member.
Mrs. Van Zant is an unofficial francophile, since her brother, French sister-in-law, niece and nephew have lived in France for over 40 years. Since her retirement, Mrs. Van Zant studies French 3 days a week. She and her husband visit France often.
