Good morning Parents & Happy Friday!

 

All learning activities are intended to provide opportunity for students to maintain learning during this time of school closure. Activities will not be turned in or graded by teachers. Parents are encouraged to use your discretion on how to best make use of the resources provided. It is our hope that these activities help support you and your child during this time.


Today’s activities are listed below. Please find all the resources to complete these on our Google Classroom website or the appropriate linked website (i.e. iReady or Raz-Kids)


Math

    1 lesson from My Path

    15 minutes on Learning Games


Reading: Read 1 book on Raz Kids and complete the corresponding comprehension questions.


Listen to Carla’s Sandwich at https://www.storylineonline.net/books/carlas-sandwich/

Answer comprehension questions about how characters respond to events in a story and submit to the assignment titled “3/27/20 Reading Activity” found in the Classwork tab. 


Writing: Answer the following prompt:  Would you rather live in a castle or on a farm?

Friday: Type and submit a final draft on Google Classroom in the assignment titled “3/26/20 - Writing Activity Final Draft.” 


If you have finished, please look for comments that your teacher left on your final draft you turned in :) 


Optional: Practice typing everyday on Typing Club


Grammar: Today’s Grammar activity is posted in the Classwork tab under “3/27/20 - Grammar Activity.” Please submit your work there :)


PBL: Fill out “Water Cycle in a Bag” Observation Sheet for day 4 (3/27/20). On the Observation Sheet, draw a picture of what is happening in your water cycle bag and describe what part of the water cycle is occurring. Then please submit a copy or picture of your completed Observation Charts in the assignment “Water Cycle in a Bag Activity” link found in the Classwork tab. 


Read assigned ReadWorks article: “We Need Water!” and answer the Cause & Effect questions.

Writing: Answer the following prompt:  Would you rather live in a castle or on a farm?

Thursday: Submit (typed) final draft in Classwork tab under “3/26/20 Writing Activity.”


Optional: Practice typing every day on Typing Club.


Grammar: Context Clues - Finding Meanings of Words Activity (posted in Classwork as “3/26/20 Grammar Activity”).


PBL: Use materials you can find around the house (and have permission to use) to make your own version of the water cycle.  You can create your model however you desire, but each model needs to include and have labeling for precipitation, evaporation, and condensation. We have included a few examples (attached below) to get you started thinking of ideas. 


Upload a picture of your final product so we can all celebrate your creation! (Submit through the “Classwork” tab and upload a picture under “3/26/20 Picture Models of the Water Cycle!” activity link.

Reading: Read 1 book on Raz-Kids and complete the corresponding comprehension questions.

After you've read your Raz-Kids book, please follow the link below and listen to Hula Hoopin’ Queen. Today you will be reviewing story structure, and identifying the parts of a story!

After you listen to the story, please answer the comprehension questions in the Google Doc on Google Classroom.


Writing: Answer the following prompt:  Would you rather live in a castle or on a farm?

 

Wednesday: Please write your rough draft. Please remember to include a topic sentence, transitions, and concluding sentence. Your goal is to write a minimum of 10 sentences--you've got this!

**Please view “3/25/20 Writing Activity” (you can find it under our writing assignment for today on Google Classroom) for specific instructions to edit your rough draft.


Optional: Practice typing on Typing Club


Grammar: Today you will review context clues by going on a scavenger hunt! The activity materials can all be found in Google Classroom under the "Grammar Learning Activity" for the day.

 

PBL: Fill out  “Water Cycle in a Bag” Observation Sheet for day 2 (3/25/20). On the Observation Sheet, draw a picture of what is happening in your water cycle bag and describe what part of the water cycle is occurring. 

After you have completed your observation sheet, please read “The Water Cycle” on Raz-Kids. (You can find this book under your "assignments" tab on Raz-Kids.) After you have read about the water cycle, please complete the Water Cycle sheet on Google Docs under "Science Activity" for the day.
