Objective: I can write narratives retelling or creating a story or series of events, using details, thoughts, transition words, and a conclusion sentence.

Below is a suggested pacing for the week. We'd like for your child to spend about 30 minutes a day practicing writing. Each day's activities should take about 30 minutes, but if your child needs more or less time to complete these activities (or would like to work at a faster pace) you're welcome to make adjustments as needed.

Monday: First, watch the video on how to make a plan for a personal narrative writing piece. Next, fill out the graphic organizer to complete your plan. You may print the graphic organizer provided or copy a similar one onto a piece of paper--either way is perfectly fine! Please take a picture of your plan and upload it to Google Classroom.

Tuesday: First, watch the video on how to write a sloppy copy and use transition words. Next, write a rough draft. Please include a topic sentence, transitions, and concluding sentence. Writing is expected to be a minimum of 10 sentences.

Wednesday: First, watch the video on how to find mistakes / add more details. Find an adult or older sibling to look over your spelling, grammar, and any other errors.

Thursday: Begin to type rough draft.

Friday: Type and submit a final draft on Google Classroom in the  “Class Drive Folder” found in the “Class Work” tab. Your teacher will be providing feedback for you in the “comments” section after you submit!

Optional: Practice typing on Typing Club.

PBL:

Watch the Properties of Matter video with Ms. Bennett (4 minutes) and answer questions on Google Classroom (10 minutes).

As we talked about in our email to you, our goal is that your child has about 2-3 hours of work per day. This is our first time implementing lessons like this, so please keep an open line of communication with us. We'd love to hear your feedback on how these video lessons and activities are working for your child, and if your child is able to complete these activities in the time we estimated. We are so thankful for your partnership as we all figure this out together!

All the best,

Lindsey and Emily
