all right one good evening everyone thank you for your understanding and your patience as we get our technical game together here I'm so thankful that you've made time to join us tonight I know the debate is going on right now hopefully you had your. VR set and you can jump into that as soon as we are done but we have a lot of support information to share as we think about what phase two is going to look like at Elevate before we begin regarding flip the next slide I want to share one really bored State related to our school lunch program and we shot the center Elevate news last week but knowing that they were going to be a lot of families that were going to TuneIn I want to make sure that everybody knows what an amazing opportunity is in front of our Elevate families right now bar oversees our school lunch program has been working very hard over the last several weeks cutting through a lot of bureaucratic red cheap but just last week we announced than Elevate news and I want to remind everyone about that right now that every single Elevate fan is eligible to receive a 5 day breakfast and lunch pack every single Tuesday from now all the way to the end of the calendar year and so there is some links on here we're going to share this slides with everybody it'll be easy to click on those either also web pages that are on our school website but would encourage everybody to take advantage of that please note that you do need to pre-order as with all of our meals Wednesday I believe Cassandra can update that but there are links for the order for the month of October on all of the information that you'll need is available on our website but the bottom line is on every elevation is eligible for 5 free lunches and free what does every single week which are distributed each Tuesday at our Middle School location from 11:30 to 12:30 if you weren't aware that please I check that out on our school website take advantage of that we want our students to be healthy and strong going to be able to learn their best to leave their best when they have nutritious food I'm so please take advantage of that between now and the end of the calendar year you can go to the next slide before I share any more information on Wii are very fortunate to have dr. Carol lick me there was going to show us how to access the school lunch date on there she is our chairman of the Elevate board and she just has a every comment that she is going to share with our community before I jump into the presentation for this evening so Carol thank you so much for your leadership with our board and South Hanna Flores and you're muted right now so as soon as you unmute everyone will be able to but you have to share the joys of Technology really happy to be here on behalf of the board to say the parents how much we appreciate you and how difficult we know this whole situation has been so very very challenging and we appreciate your parent your patience your understanding and the grace that you'd given our students as well as our teachers we just like everyone else very anxious for school to reopen and we've talked about how best do this to preserve this healthy situation for a as well as their staff and so we have approved Brewery opening in the Blended program and hopefully tonight will be able to answer most of your questions about how this to start W want you to realize that we're all very anxious to reopen and pictures of work very very hard to reopen and the number one concern we have is that your children are safe and that there are everybody's healthy so we're all going to work together hopefully you have lots of good information starting tonight and so you can give you more information in addition to dr. lichte who's been in education for all 40 years she ended her career as a superintendent servicer brings a wealth of knowledge to our team and we're fortunate to have dr. Callahan who has been involved with elevator ever since before we actually existed listen to Jill Soule a democracy and Kirsten Grimm who all made valuable contributions on a very regular basis and I are super supportive of our entire community so thank you Carol or your service to our school for helping us Visa the very best version of our school that we can end so as I begin we can go back one slide right there it's always important for us to start with our guiding principles is really slow from Elevate mission to equip every single student academic exceptional leadership and extraordinary in creativity is going to be first and foremost obviously both physical safety as we think about reopen School in time of academics but also the emotional safety that's so important for us to our families as we continue through the school year together we think about what does each student need in or do their very best learning that's not necessarily going to be the same thing for every student I'm so we're going to have some Equity principles that we'll talk about later on as we think about setting every child up for Success on one of the foundational parts of our school has always been rigorous academic even during this challenging year as Carol just said we have super hardworking teachers great student on great job parents our kiddos are off to a great start this year in parents and families that we get there is because we want each and every one of our students to have lots of doors open to them as they go through their educational career and so even in a year of challenge we want to uphold those expectations because that's what our students needs as they continue to to develop as Learners and leaders and lastly that's social emotional connection that's one of the the messages that I've heard so clearly from parents over the last month that has been so difficult and so we want that to be embedded into all of the work that we do at our school during phase 1 Phase 2 distance learning Blended learning and Miss Castillo speak a little bit to that later on in our gathering right here and so as we shared this summer we have some criteria for what it would look like to safely reopen and so we'll talk a little bit about these as we go through our time together obviously that monitoring list the state monitoring list. It's just it over the last month and a half or so and we're now talking about your level just a little bit we have to restore us our campuses are staff are students with the appropriate supplies and protocol so we can uphold. Commitment to health and safety mindful about our timing of our transition I know back in August and July is August it was time we talked about our unit being a natural transition time for us and so that's kind of where we find ourselves just a couple weeks away from the start of unit and so we'll talk about how that's a strategic time that this is a strategic time for us to begin that reopening process I'm go ahead and so parents thank you very much for responding I think we have 365 students right now almost every single family responded just a couple weeks ago when we asked you hey what would your preference be recognizing that every single family is going to be in in a little bit different place as far as your level of comfort Europeans on coming back lots and have a great option for everybody within our community but that is when we did that it was about 7624 split as far as what that preference was a little while ago we recognize that sometimes that can shift. day-to-day basis and so as we share what the plan is tonight we're going to have a response form for every family that will go out tomorrow morning where you will make a determination to share your preference for what learning program your child will be part of yes we go into the month of October on you can go to the next one that's right we fold our staff obviously our teachers are office workers are rtic more critical voices and they are those that are on the front line working with your stew day in and day out and so as we surveyed them most recently we surveyed them multiple times some of just that the ideas that they shared both was a deep commitment and desire to work with students Davis your students as much as do they also shared some concerns that scheduling and I'm just it's just that, that those can be difficult and there definitely will be some shift as we think about how we use our time most strategically and obviously that overall sense of is important to all of us including our staff members and we want to be really mindful really responsive to that as an entire Community again so that those individuals that are on the front lines working with our awesome students and feel comfortable and confident as a pro high-quality instruction obviously we have three different campuses with classroom that was very different sound so there's a lot of diversity when it comes to that and so we've had a lot of conversations around what is safe and appropriate number for students to be in classroom at our respective campuses and we're going to share that a little bit and then not answering a few errands to our safety protocols staff is willing to come back to come back but there's a commitment for all of us as we think about coming back person that we have to have that by commitment that I adhere it's to the safety protocols that are going to be in place for the safety and well-being of all members of our Desiree can you go to that next one there we go and so on the next one is going to say current County Landscape there we go and so I talked to before the state doesn't have their monitoring list anymore they transition through those tears obviously I'm even just in the last couple weeks we schedule the town hall and then there were lots of news reports that came out and said it looks like San Diego county is going to move from the red to the purple tier which is not as good health wise until we postpone and then everything let up the last Tuesday the 22nd and we stayed in the red tear as that adjusted case rate stayed underneath that 7.0 threshold that the state is looking And So currently San Diego county is in that red you're that would allow any school to open but if that works a shift to purple at some point that would essentially close the door for schools that are not currently in the reopening process so we're mindful that Rasta mindful just of the impact of San Diego State I'm on our County obviously Call of Duty in the best decision makers as they've come back to San Diego and a chosen the congregate not using the guidelines that we will adhere to at our school and with our students and as a staff and as an Empire unity and so the impact on those numbers I receive that is what most put us in Jeopardy of switching from that red to the purple tier and so I'm hopeful that obviously that University college students are going to make better decisions going but we also don't want to have our school on be at the whim of the decision-making of students down a good ways away from us and we've also been encouraged this we see several District I've been open over the last several weeks I've done so without incident so I'm Delmar Cajon Valley Alpine and some of our team members have been able to visit a charter school nearby that has been open since the first week in September and we've been able to glean lots of great information from them I'm so encouraged just by seeing others be successful and we're confident that we can for families that would like to send their children not everyone has to like I said we're going to have two great options for student but we're confident we can go forward on a datasheet that I have looked at on a very regular racist over the last couple months this gets updated every single day by our county has these 13 key measures really number one and number 10 are the ones that I will often go to right away and so I just talked about that adjust the cheapest rates I've been allowed our County to stay in the Red Scare last obviously we want to stay at 7.0 or below and as we go forward and then I'll just continue to find a little bit, I was on the county call this week every Tuesday at 10 on their several hundred on Educators and other individuals from the county that sign on myself and there's Alden who is on the call with us right now but ER doctor was talking today about how those measures are trending in a good direction just as they continue to track all of the health data in our next life and so this is Amityville that was shared with me that is put out by the CDC really highlights those indicators risk and as we look at this kind of some of the data points that we have here in the county of San Diego as well as the protocols in the mitigation strategies if you look at that last column Elevate, where we are and what we are going to do when we have students in person what we've already been doing as staff has been on campus over the last several weeks puts us in the lower and lowest ranges on the left hand side of a boat so I'm we're going to like I said I'm going to say it here too many many times this evening because it's not about having good protocols it's about sticking to those and actually implementing those with Fidelity and as we do that we can go Staples conditions for our students for us for our family Nest live please so as we think about kind of the input that we've done from our stakeholders as we think about the local landscape when it comes to health are bored the shop do not receive Carol just spoke with us on they approved a plan that will allow us to move forward that will include both continue distance learning as well as a blended learning Austin for student next lights please and what that is to be guided by like I said it's a strict adherence to health and safety protocols and so we actually invested I'm quite a bit of money over the last couple months I'm going back into the summer so that we have the appropriate PPE so that we are able to screen cast members of students whenever they come on campus we went classroom by classroom and as I share the number of deaths that can be in each room on we literally measured out six feet from each desk to the next so that we could say what is the maxim number of students we can store safely because we don't want to compromise on that we're not going to fight that as we go into face too because we want to uphold that safety for all members of our community we've invested in sand and sanitization that we have hand sanitizers that have been installed in every single classroom I'm with sprayers that were providing both to teachers as well as to some new custodial person we brought onto our team has a frequency of sanitization of our I said both in classrooms and around campus air purifiers that just came in last week that it will be located in every classroom that will help make sure that air is circulating and then taking some of the impurities out of that in each of our learning areas we purchase additional sinks especially for Serra Mesa on so that we have additional areas for students to wash their hands especially outside bathroom and so that we can be washing our hands frequently that we could be sanitizing our hands frequently throughout the day whenever we are all on it so here just a couple images of what classroom look like little bit different than last year but we're really fortunate especially on Middle School site and a TR Santa the same as the one on the left the one on the right is room 204 and so this is what it looks like when we have our individual desk some classroom still have a double desk but will only have one child at those on when they are spread out next week and see what I mean Pastor looks like it so this is over at our Sixth Grade Campus this will be awaiting our brand new 6th graders in the coming weeks as we prepare to welcome some of them back in so I talked about maximum room capacity and so Alex Serra Mesa campus for grades kindergarten of third grade we have 17 desks in each classroom on a TR Santa there a little bit and the middle school classroom probably could have even more than 20 but I think that probably will exceed the demand of a family that want to send their students but if so we can read this about those are really pretty lunch spots in the one that we have access to next slide please and so one of the things that is super important because I know as we share with parents again people going to fall all over the place summer going to be really excited about the prospect of your child coming back to campus summer not at a place where you think that's a good idea and we respect all of those opinion decision making that really is a family decision for every single Elevate family of the students that come to our school but one of the thing that is really important particular for families that are interested in sending your child is that you need to have a deep understanding sing of some of the parameters that the county and the state have put out and so there's a link on here we're not going to watch this video right now but when you do your learning program selection form is a question parents you have some homework I want every single person to watch this video is linked is treated by another charter school but it's very clearly lays out this symptom decision Tree in really highlights the reality that if a student is coming back to campus Amore staff member for that matter and has One symptom any of the ones that you can see on the screen right here they're going to they're going to think they're going to need to be picked up or if they have a fever when they come into the drop off line on they're not going to be able to come to school because we can't compromise the protocols that we have in place so that everybody else is able to stay as safe as possible and do as much internet in person learning as possible I'm so about 10 minutes if not quite as is Netflix but it's incredibly informative and will help all of us have the same level of understanding when it comes to spending our children in person if that is what you would like to do and then right here this also this symptom decision tree is linked on our website Now I'm That Kind of walk through those steps for what would happen if a child you know if an individual had a positive Covetous how we would monitor that so then we can maximize safety for everybody else as well my GCI can't barely see the chat but I do see I'm kind of a questionnaire about asthma one of the things that the video highlights and one of the things that families will need to communicate with the school before a child is to come back is if there is a pre-existing condition on this and asthma and allergies that may lead to one of the symptoms that you see listed right there there is understanding for that when there is documentation ahead of time and so that will be something that families will want to communicate very clearly to our school nurse Miss Alden so that we can have that documented and then if they have kind of one of those if they have a runny nose but it's connected to something that maybe was a pre-existing condition then there will be a different process for how to get him back then assuming that it's a Coca symptom by please and so as we think about what the in-person Austin will look like as we talked about back in August are to learning model are distance learning people have done a great job was at a great job students and then there are other options beginning in phase two will be Blended learning I'm in this is not going to be a jump in the deep end for us we're not going 5 full days we are going to be very deliberate in rolling out what our interest in learning looks like but we do want that to be something that is Meaningful for students we believe that it will be for those that used to come in person it's a what that's going to look like we're going to stick to the maximum death a student that we can serve and he said those respective classroom but then what it's going to look like for Kinder through 5th grade is that students will be on site 3 days a week that are in that pathway for 4 hours a day until you can see this schedules on the right hand side that will be Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday the way that the grade 6 schedule daily schedule breaks down they have six. So they are actually going to be in person for days because we're going to break that day down two different times over the course of the week and so again because of the team that we have because of the space that we have were able to do that with six grade where they'll have four days of four hours in person and then you know it's kind of obvious statement at the bottom learning is a combination both of in person as well as at home learning and so while they'll be on campus some students will be for 4 hours a day the full school they will continue to go help you 30 or give or take students will be involved in additional learning opportunities at home on there will be office hours but they will continue their learning throughout the day but the only be on campus for 4 hours for students that are part of the next slide please thank you and so as we think about this I know you know we're eager to get this underway but we want to take a deliberate step every single week and so what the rollout schedule looks like is that next week we're actually going to begin with a couple appointments or I'm some of our students who have IEP you were looking at small groups for some of our younger grade will communicate with students and families if and when those are going to be scheduled but this is going to be our first step into having a students on campus the week of October 12th on that is where we're going to have one pilot day one day on site for each of our grade then we're going to spread those out so at Serra Mesa will be all by them self on Monday and then another day just first grade will be there in just a second grade adjust third grade and so we're going to be very deliberate we're going to learn how to bring everybody on campus safely we're get to go see we're going to introduce those protocols to our students so that we can take that step by step as we go through the week of October 19th we're going to increase that to two days on site that's also is the beginning of unit to right around that friends and so one of the things will be coming out in the near future is that we are will share in October schedule so that everybody can know they will what is that pilot day for my respected Graves whether your child is in the Blended learning option or if you're doing distance learning schedules will be adjusted little bit but that is going to be something that will send out in the very near future so that families can plan accordingly so we're going to eat some flexibility particularly during those two weeks as we take deliberate steps on board I'm different groups of students at different and then beginning in the week of the 19th probably one of those two days will be an overlap day for our respected braids and that will lead us to the week of October 26th when that will be our full implementation of Blended learning when students on-site for that Tuesday Wednesday Thursday I'm in the Blended learning program in grades K through 5 and 4 days at the middle school next lights please I'm still one of the things is that continue to have I support saint for all students in distance learning it so I just heard a lot about the Blended learning sign but are distance learning students are still going to have a really strong experience we've been really fortunate in our first month with the found teachers have built up that students have built up their parents so thank you parents I know especially parents of younger students you guys have provided a lot of support to your but it has a lot of really important learning and relation Community to be built up even in a really challenging time of the school year for all of us but because we have that Foundation we're going to be continued to be able to build on that for distance learning and it's important to note that the class teacher is still going to be providing quality instruction to students in distance learning and so they'll bills be providing their lunch lesson to students in front of them and then to their distance learning students via we're bringing in additional new staff member call Flex facilitators who were their primary role is to help support students during those live session so that all students can be successful both at home and distance learning and in-person in Blended learning small group reading and math question those are going to continue as before those are going to continue to be scheduled with the classroom teacher and that teacher is going to provide the primary instruction both at that reading group as well as that mess session in addition to the whole group lunch reading list it will take place and so like I said we've had a lot of resources that have been expended one to keep our camp estate but also we're going to invest that in the area of staff so that every student is able to be supported really really well whether you choose the distance learning off or the Blended learning option please and so I think so and so maybe if you could go back misses when there are a couple of my slides at it just disappeared on us it's an interesting night but one of the things. if you can kind of track down but we had actually spent a lot of time planning at the Serra Mesa location that was the one I was looking for excellence what that nutrition break is going to look like and what a movement break is going to look like the things I want everyone to hear loud and clear and if you've been elevated for a little while you know I'm we like our structures and we like things to be predictable for a student there Stacy in that consistency and so especially as we think about bringing students during this time we're going to have to have some additional structures in place around the time where we know that students have to move around his unreasonable for a to be on campus for at for 4 hours and just be in their classroom. Entire time to wiggle break they are going to be able to move about of course especially our youngest student but every a grade at all of the campuses but specifically at Serra Mesa cuz that's where we have the most student I'm working to follow a schedule like we see right here where are amazing is going to be in the mix kind of giving kind of these going to be leading the movement for our students and so they'll come out obviously they're going to sanitize multiple times as they leave their room after they eat after they do their movement break of Coatesville but they're going to eat their snack relatively quickly and then especially cuz cabooze out there who wouldn't want to go join him on the blacktop they'll go have a 15-minute structure movement break so it's not a full-time PE but it is going to be guided besides that he's going to do with them if you had the privilege of seeing him in action is awesome and probably some of you have even seen him in his some of his life sessions that he's done even during the school year door really thankful for him and believe the. a really effective way for us to give students as opportunities to move around to burn off some energy to get some nutritious snacks in there body in the middle of their day but then also be moving about for the second half the next slide please so now since they got jumbled up a little bit it's a little curious I don't know where everything is but I do want to go back Desiree do you want to add anything else around the support in distance I know that you're working super close to you would like teachers and we've talked about this a lot is there anything that I didn't highlight that you want to add on to what I said just a moment I know that the thought of of my my child if I choose earning are they still have a great experience that they still going to learn the same and we wanted all of you that regardless if you choose just since learning or blend for your family for your child your student your child is going to still receive high-quality instruction regarding your choice our teachers as you know Spider-Man Peter glitches and Technology glitches and everything else are teachers have done a phenomenal job and that will continue regardless of the choice you make respect all decisions that you guys have is it hard to write so we will continue offering the absolute best wonderful and and we are also are going to continue on as you know we've had our tea is added to that this year we're increasing capacity and just doing things to Lindsay up the nominal job with that we will continue offering that for students for distance learning for in-person Lord learning and I want to assure all of you that you met your stupid your child will still receive the absolute awesome thank you very much Desiree I know yeah let me guess what he does great work with our teachers obviously started that in the classroom we're back when we opened in 5th grade and teachers are super Fortune to have her coaching them leading professional learning particularly during this year with all of the challenges that are in front of I think the next line is actually going to speak to you on our social emotional learning and I would love to open the flue Kathy Kathy Kirk our counselor should you go back its hiding in there somewhere to go back a couple slides probably Kathy with you speak to how we're going to continue to address of social emotional learning for all students as we go into face to I don't know if Kathy is out there she has a mutant or not happy problem sorry about that so I know that social emotional growth is so important and during this time when kids can't be face-to-face only zoom two faces I liked we want to continue to do as much as we can as a school we also know that we need to face to anxiety can increase for parents and for children and so we are trying to do everything that we can as a support your kids and so one of the things that we do and if you're not aware of this we have friendship connect groups every week for every grade level and so there on Monday when Tuesday and Wednesday and that is a time when your child can zoom in with their classmates and we talked about her seven habits we play games together and we just have a lot of fun but it is a wonderful chance for kids with each other we also going to continue this then as we move to our face too and then we have our lead time and hopefully his parents you might have been able to kind of hear what's going on it's the start of the day for Arabic and it's our leadership in action for 6th graders and during that time kids are connecting with each other they're sharing their they're sharing stories and and that's a real essential time will continue and then we team Elevate and it has been so fun for me to be popping into classes during lead time and being able to teach social emotional lesson and toads and going to continue just like we did last year continuing the same process this year and so we also want to encourage you as parents because we know that you're in the trenches you are in the thick of it I'm a parent myself I'm just trying to my son graduate so I understand the challenges but we want you to know that we're here to partner with you and we are going to again look out for your child and so let me share of you do have more since about some of this social emotional learning please feel free to email me I'm even find my email on the website well I'm the one who is muted thank you Kathy, I believe the next one should say next steps Desiree on our presentation here and so on. I know, there's so many details that we share. play that is not an exhaustive overview of every single these galaxies lots of questions coming up in the chat we are going to have some time for questions at the end of this but I want to share with everybody so where do we go from here and so some next steps I told you parents I'm there is come work for you and so I do want you to watch that video that is linked on our website if you go there now it says distance and Blended learning it has both the covid-19 decision tree as well as the video so that everybody is suit as a strong understanding of what the protocol will be if anybody has any of those symptoms either as they come to school as they develop while they're at school tomorrow morning we are going to make available today do you want you guys to think about this I know families you guys have important conversations to have at home with all of the caretakers of the respective students that are individuals are going to watch the video of this but beginning tomorrow we're going to make it available to learning program selection form for Phase 2 units he went to that's really important to note as well that this election will run between from October as we roll it out through the end of December so for the whole duration of unit to Baskin be available tomorrow we would love back as soon as you have given you a response on there but we will the last day to hand those in will be on Monday because then we have to go through a process of the school to fill all of the and then we'll notify families of the program assignment for your respective Child by that next Wednesday so I'm a week from tomorrow. First week of our in-person pilot like I said whether you're in distance are near Blended learning that is going to have an impact on the schedule lead Times May begin at 8:10 in Serra Mesa or 8th and 6th grade and so we'll have lots of communication as we work our way to and through October so that everybody can be on top of those details as we go through next slide please and so you know as we talked about maximum capacity in our classroom the natural question that people are probably wondering about it what happens if there's more demand for in-person seat than we capacity for and we really wrestled with out as a school as a leadership team we said hey there is there's a possibility that a family that wants to send their child to Blended learning may not be able to do that I think there's just going to be a handful If any man will actually come to explain why scientist II but that is a mathematical possibility and so as we share what our plan is I just want to share with everybody that we are going to be guided by Equity we're going to say students that most need to learn in person that are most in danger of falling behind behind if they are learning in a distance learning format but their families are comfortable and want them to come in person and so there are going to be guidelines on there are students that have an IP or have a 504 on our English language Learners and families that qualify for free or reduced lunch are going to get preference as we identify the students who will most benefit from the Iced Earth there's a spot for every single family that wants to send your child but if there is greater demands our first students are going to be those that most will benefit from being in class and like I said we're going to have to really strong program do we do have kind of constraints on how many students we can have in there so we want to have a strong rationale for how that those seats are going to be occupied if you know there are additional obviously for whatever seats do are not take by those students are you a random Lottery I'm we're not going to stay out of trouble so we love all of our students and so we're going to randomize it after that point as we still on the rest of those seats and so one of the questions on the form that families will receive tomorrow is I don't know if it's question one or what one but if you're going to be responding for this is the program that we would like to select for a obviously one is distance learning if you are hearing all of this information and you're staying to yourself I'm not comfortable sending my file back like I said we respect that there's a great option for you you're welcome to have your child continuing distance learning they're going to do a great job. if you would prefer the Blended learning that's Austin to right there but they're maybe and I call this the angel option if there are some families that would prefer for your child to participate in Blended learning but UFC over the first month of the school year while this is not the ideal learning arrangement for any of us but if your child has actually done pretty well and you're able to support them or their able to operate on their own and you recognize you know what I'd like them to be in person but I think they're still going to learn really well if they're at home during this Phase 2 unit 2 time there's going to be an option right there where you can basically say hey we'd like Blended learning but if there is no a little bit of it if there's a shortage of AC to see we would like someone else who would benefit more to take that and so you don't get $1000000 if you pick that one right there you will get our gratitude and respect and just thinking of others which I know is very very challenging as we do best prices but there are probably some families in our community whose children are going to do great either way and that maybe something that you want to consider and something about and so like I said we are going to have some time for some questions in just a moment but as we think about this year I think that this is a slide I know it showed it was Mike my staff multiple times and hopefully with Terrance either to orientation or maybe our town call before but I love this image as I think 2021 because we cannot see clearly all the way to the end right now right thing shifts so quickly two weeks ago I thought we were to go to turning our world upside down actually kind of play out that way but I'm finding that we can live pretty well in 30 day increments until what we are going to do is we have our plan for Phase 2 we are going to walk clearly in the space that we see in front of us I'm we're going to do it the right way we're your door safety protocols were going to Resource individuals our staff our campuses to do it safely we're going to have higher resources for every student regardless of what learning plan there in distance learning or Blended learning but we have go forward together and so really I do want to take a moment just to talk to our entire Community this is a hard time there are challenges there are frustration I've shared before I have to students two children of my own who are students on I'm usually on campus but last week I happen to be home in the morning when my son had to take a really big math test and he couldn't get on because of our internet it was glitching and he was not in a good place right there and I bet lots of families can't connect to an experience like that or multiple experiences of trying to get in or getting kicked out or you can't hear very well frustration is going to come but when that happens and I want to Italian herbs everybody to be really mindful about how we navigate how we navigate that together our teachers are working so hard you are working so hard and so as we assume best intense as we stop before we say something to hey is this going to lead a productive problem solving or is it just going to be really discouraging for people because whether that's in person or on Facebook and I said it we need to be together as we go through this year and when we are together we're going great the best conditions that we can under really challenging circumstances for every student and for every member of our community that cold or office staff for teachers for RTI for our parents for everybody that is surrounding our Gray student we want to uplift everybody even in the the challenging times our leadership team had a zoom meeting this morning and we got disconnected like four times it was super frustrating but we still had an important work to do and that is in kind of a charge for our entire community and I know there are days where it feels really difficult but I was super fortunate just this morning to begin my day and a lead time with kindergarteners and I was blown away at the Payson the teacher how engaged how good the kindergarten students in muting and unmuting themselves they were so excited to participate and share about how they're going to put first things first and work and then play I mean it was amazing to see was coming about during that lead time and so you know if are kindergarteners can do this I know that we can navigate everything as we go forward but we have to do it together when we do that our community stronger our students will do well and we're going to put them in all of us in the best position to be successful closing chard I'm if we go to the next piece we are going to open it up for questions in just a moment but I know that some of the questions are going to come up and so Champions if you have questions about what are those Services going to be provided I know I've been talking with Robin on a very regular basis to bring her up-to-date as we've been doing our planning you going to have information I believe it's going to come out tomorrow tomorrow morning to parents if that is something that could be beneficial for your time I did see a question kind of in the chat earlier before because students are going to be on site for 4 hours a day that was intentional as we take a step into in person learning on we do need to do this to have a substance in healthy snack when they comes but they're not going to have a full house. When they come on campus will continue to do launch distribution from the Middle School site every Tuesday and uniforms that was something that kind of has been kind of my maybe on some people's to-do list if you want your child to be your person I would go this is links right now how much are the slides order those right now I'm so that your children can have those if they're going to be in the Blended learning program when you come on and so those are just a couple of those areas I am not been able to all of the chat questions right now but maybe I will open it up I know Miss Cassie and Miss Desiree Miss Danielle is on here lots of party members but maybe if you want to come have read out what has been maybe one of the questions that has come up so that we could answer maybe some of the most frequently Asked one's kind of in this last 5 to 10 minutes or so that we've locked out yeah well was about during the Blended lower model in the afternoons will there still be doing things or assignments or things like that that's a great question our in-person students will have the focus of the attention during the morning when they are in person on campus the distance learning kids will have that little bit of the priority in afternoon said if a student has been in person during the day needs extra support absolutely they get it because we strive consistently to make sure all our students needs are met address of the situation we will also have teachers will have office hours will have RTI stuff with office hours and we want to make sure whatever the needs are they getting that schedules will change though I guarantee that no matter what all schedules will change a little bit until I see a question about what will the schedule be for those that continue and distance learning and so those are some of the details on we we actually David r a schedule that we did not include in the presentation tonight but we do have those we are working on those and we'll communicate those in the very near future again like kind of leveraging all of our resources to provide as many opportunities rates for students in both program on as we go to the day but like I said before we are reconfiguring our using the hours but the hours themselves are not changing because we want students to have a full day of learning every single day so yeah there will definitely be meaningful learning activities for students and there may be some office hours that are scheduled there may be RTI times that are scheduled so there's a lot that we can do outside of those for Blended learning call Lamar Stevens mystery girl some questions about masks and providing and wearing and for the length of that okay and so maybe you can clarify just that last part but obviously we are going to have face coverings for all you know anybody who is on campus we actually and we'll invite families to send their child with a face covering there probably are one that you have been using over the last many months I'm we will absolutely have additional masks on site if for whatever reason somebody forgets one Falls in a puddle who knows we'll have those but and then we have provided face Shields to our teachers on that they will be able to use in combination with their own face coverings and so we are fortunate to have quite a bit of PPE on site all on the we're providing both the team members and we'll have to provide the student if needed teachers wearing face shield or face mask during construction and so again I like that Danielle spaces the one that everyone can see right now because I bring a lot of my questions to her and I both are on those weekly calls with the county so we actually had this conversation in recent weeks, I don't remember when it was really we're going to advise our teachers to have both of those but when they are delivering instruction that would be particularly important for students to see their mouth if they're annunciating at they're talking about letter sounds and it would be appropriate and is totally find with the 60 distance that we have to just have the face shield take that off so that their mouth is visible and can be seen by student and then when they're done with that part of their instruction they'll put their face. Com I'm just a kid I'm Point face coverings that is the face mask that were speaking of and not just a shield it's encouraged that students wear the face mask however just wording of it I'm CDC guidelines does say covering so that's why we continue to say face covering Brian there's a question do the zoom meetings in class instruction happen at the same time and so I'm assuming that's four distance learning in those in the Blended learning so that's a great question and obviously has lots of specific that we introduced very quickly so it's going to depend on the content matter so let's take our encore less than maybe the extended text that the teacher is going to maybe come to do a reading with the class and they're going to have questions they're going to talk about before that Core lesson that is going to be won the Dell deliver to the students or in person will be color simultaneously recording how it'll be recorded via zoom and so distant learning students will be participating in that at the same time when it comes to the small reading group that teachers will lead with all of their students whether there in person or on or distance those will obviously those will take place in Zoom as well the math instruction at our grade levels is unmarried primarily delivered installed it's already so that is going to be you know what the distance learning students will specifically meet at the schedule time they'll get the exact same lesson as the in-person student but it's just going to be the distance learning students from that class better meeting with their teacher at that time will school be closed for a few days maybe we can explain that process if you can go back to that slide the decision making Tree on Desiree but that is on our website right there the only part that makes that easy to answer is that all of the steps have already been determined for every school on for every entity and so that is on that website right there and so if there is a positive case that symptom decision making tree really walked you through step-by-step that video that is everyone's homework and it'll take you about 10 minutes tonight walkthrough what are the scenarios where that would require us to have different members of our community quarantine or potentially shut down a class and so all of that is predicated on who has been in close contact which is defined as less than 60 or 15 minutes or more and so if there are situations where that has happened which is going to be pretty rare at our school site for both better be. Closed down for that and the time that would you know as we do our contact racing that could necessitate other individuals but one of the reasons we want to have such strict protocols in place is so that I mean heaven forbid if there is a positive case which we know can happen even if we do everything perfectly on our site any member of our community could get that in another setting doesn't mean that we've done anything wrong it just means that that is no kind of the current reality that we are living in but this decision Sherwood really guide what are the steps first for that individual that has a symptom and what is the steps or what are they going to do to get a test if the family desires if they don't I'm you can see I'm here they are going to be out of school for at least ten days from there is it 14 Danielle it's 10 days if they are at 10 so and then if there is a positive case again that's where we do our contact tracing and it would we would go back and say who was in close proximity less than 60 more than 15 minutes and then we will take the appropriate precautions obviously if there's a pause we are required to contact Orange County Health officials and they would walk us through that process and then I just want to clarify that face shield versus face masks that we asking students to wear face masks Bill does not provide the same protection as the mask does and that's according to I do see a couple questions about schedule so I Desiree if you're able to go back to the three campuses I'm just going to wait till you close it down I'm going to ask you to open it up again but that we have a natural Stager between our three campuses just so that you can actually drop offs to if you have a child at each campus and so I don't know if you're able to find that Desiree but basically our Sixth Grade Campus opens at 8 Serra Mesa campus at 8:10 and then our Tierrasanta fourth and fifth grade campuses at 8:30 so they obviously you know there's going to be a probably a 20-minute window where students can be dropped off before so we can do all of our temperature and symptoms screenings but there is a natural stagger between our three campuses just out of necessity anyways and as we do our pilot day as we have two graves on campus we're going to be able to determine pay is this an ample amount of time if we need to make an adjustment so that we can make sure that students are safe so that we can make sure that that works will do that if needed but that's the benefit of having one of our rollout schedule take it step-by-step we will be able to determine if he confident that we have ample time to have everyone safely come on campus on every time Ryan there was a question that the teachers remain the same between the distance learning in the Blended learning as they have now the grade-level teachers as well as kind of your child Homebase teacher they are going to stay the same so they're still going to take those individual teacher is going to take ownership and take the lead with your child whether they happen to be in person or they continue and then right I know that you had mentioned about extra support that maybe just sharing about the extra support for distance Learners there's the questions in the chat right there so I'm going to bring a veteran distance learning like I said kind of that first lead teacher is there regular teacher the teacher that they've in been interacting with during this first month of the school year they're going to continue how does one slice in time might be a just a little bit but when that feature is doing that kind of that lunch reading lesson for the whole grade the whole class not only are they going to be tuned into that be a zoom like they have been but that's where we're also bringing those other staff members alongside of flexibility Spears who are going to be able to support students in distance learning that time I'm recognizing that if we just ask the classroom teacher to monitor 25 kids some who are in front of them some her on a screen that's really challenging we have amazing teachers or we want to set everybody up to be successful so those Flex facilitators are going to be able to step in and they'll navigate to be able to do some technical support if they're struggling with that in distance learning on there going to be another going to come alongside it's going to be able to support those particular students and so kind of those individuals along with RTI team on where have you been on any of the calls are lunch with the director recently in Elevate news Lindsay benefits have been doing a great job training them to working with Mike mueschke I'm so that those individuals are able to support students that have not yet mastered some of the grade level standards that they need to have to be successful and so that program is going to be in full effect in the very near future for students in distance learning as a well as the Blended learning I see a short question that come up a couple times some of our sixth grade parents really want to know when that 4th day is going to be you know the Tuesday Wednesday Thursday my short answer is I don't know yet but I'll know tomorrow morning and we will let you know on whether that's a Monday or Friday but that's something that's kind of in our grade level team and we're going to connect to them first thing tomorrow morning and so we all get that. I'm just going to happens to be I think mr. K already mentioned that done temp checks and screenings those will happen. Screen question and we have touchless thermometer is that the staff use every day when they come on so we will have multiple team members at East Campus I'm ready to receive students on when that 20-minute window begins and really like they that in the Serra Mesa drop off line they're going to do that before students even get out of the car I will do the symptoms check for parents to answer so that they can we can be confident that everybody is symptom-free when they come on I have the 4th day of 4th grade 6th and determined not yet but it will be by tomorrow morning so maybe I'll even text the teachers tonight and we'll let everybody know Brian Joseph now to do either distance learning or Blended learning will there be opportunity for them to change if need be or in as we move into a third phase will there be opportunities for that ship fast right here cuz I kind of briefly before tomorrow when families have that on learning program selection it's going to stay during phase 2 and unit 2 and so that will basically take us to the end of December on there we do need only that are committed you know I would if you're not sure you can do the Blended learning all three days you know and I would be stopped calling mindful of other families and other individual really you are committing to that learning track from now till the end of December obviously if there's some totally unexpected situation you know you can talk to us leadership about that but really this with all of the changes that we have in front of us and 10 is it will be in place from now to the end of December which is unit 2 and then as we go through this next month these next two months that's going to give us more understanding more data so that we can make the best determination about what would be appropriate from there. you're not locking yourself in for the whole year but we are asking for a commitment between now and the end of December that will minimize changes back and forth from there and like I said before with all of those safety protocols sit in that is that you're committing that if my child is going to come in person even if I think that maybe this protocol is maybe overdoing it a little bit that you're going to partner with us for the Stacy of everybody and your child going to be no go along with that you're going to go so that we can keep our focus on learning and leaving as much as possible and kind of work within the parameters in the boundaries that really kind of the state and County had given us to keep everybody stayed when everybody here's to those we can keep more of our inner focused on the stuff that we all care most deeply about after safety is considered it's so weird that it's 707 right now there still is probably some debate that you guys can watch if you didn't DVR it I know that there are probably a good number of questions that we weren't able to get to right now so we'll look at this and we'll consider putting together an FAQ on that link on the website so that we can offer more detail in areas that we didn't speak to specifically right now I think you guys know this I can meet us here a couple kind of time times and crazy comment in there everybody is working incredibly hard on because we care deeply for your child for your family we are committed to partnering with you and we do want to create the very best conditions for every child in our community and we want to provide what is needed for each child I'm so everybody can learn bro and so we appreciate you being part of our community of your brand-new to elevate what a year to join us we're going to make it work we're going to make it good we're going to make it great and we do really appreciate the relationships in the partnership that we built up over the last couple years thank you everyone for making time to be part of this and we're going to send more information in the coming days so continue to kind of read the Elevate news read those Communications that come out and thoughtfully consider what is going to be best for you wild and consider if you want to get your own pair of angel wings and allow another child if you know that your child is going to be successful on either one of those trucks I'm so thank you everybody I do want to give a shout out to my Elevate team many of whom mom had taken time out of their evening to be part of this our leadership team they're rock stars are teachers are rockstars office RTI everybody has a deep why caring about your child and we're going to continue to do everything that we can time to create a safe return and continued excellence in both learning model as we go forward so was that I will officially closed us we can stop recording this and are you glad you spent your you know hour and 9 Minutes tonight have to watch it tomorrow before they make their decision so thank you parents and we look forward to communicating more in the coming days ago
