Middle School Football tryouts are coming up next Tuesday 9/15 after school until 4:30 pm!! Unlike previous years, Flag Football will be COED. Season will begin shortly after tryouts with a practice starting on Thursday 9/17 and running all the way until the end of playoffs Winter Break in December. Practices will be held every Tuesday at the middle school campus immediately after school - 4:00 pm with extra practices on Thursdays at the Tierrasanta Campus for the first few weeks. All dates are posted in the calendar linked here. Our coach's time is valuable, so please be sure to pick up your child promptly at the end of practices. Games begin the last week of September/first week of October with possible days being Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday afternoons (we will release the game schedule when we receive it).

How do you select students to play on the team?-
Coaches select students based on their current skill level demonstrated at tryouts. Grade level does not matter. It is up to each student to demonstrate their abilities at tryouts. Every moment matters!
When will we know if our child makes the team?- I will notify all families on Parent Square the evening of 9/15. Please look out for a notification in a direct message from me, Ari Donnelly.
When will there be practices?
- Practices for the full semester will be held Tuesdays after school from 2:45 - 4:00 pm at EMS. However, in order to prepare the students for their games, they will have a few extra practice days at the TS campus from 1:30 - 3:00 pm on Thursdays where they can use a full sized field.

Where are games located? - We compete in a league designed for private and charter schools called AthLEAD. They host games in various locations in south county San Diego. We don't know where games are scheduled until we receive the schedule. Possible locations are:
- Lemon Grove Middle School
- San Diego Community Academy
- Mueller Charter School
- Discovery Charter School
What are the coaches looking for in tryouts?- All athletes should be prepared to give their best effort in every drill. Coaches will be evaluating students on their ability to throw and receive spirals, quickly understand their roles in offensive and defensive plays, and the student's overall speed and agility.
