Laurie Herbek is an original east coaster who grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia. In 2016, she graduated from James Madison University in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley with a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She then moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to teach Elementary Special Education through Teach for America.

 

During her first two years of teaching, she completed her Masters of Arts in Teaching from Marian University in Indianapolis. After teaching 5 years in Indiana, the west coast called her name. She packed up her life in her Jeep and moved to sunny San Diego to begin working at Elevate as the 4th and 5th grade Special Education teacher.

 

This year she will continue teaching 4th and 5th grade Special Education as well as lead the SpEd Department at Elevate as Lead Education Specialist. When she's not teaching or writing IEPs, you can find her spending time with friends, travelling, or going to live music events.
