Alana is a San Diego native who obtained her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from UC San Diego. Her work with students began in 2012 while completing her research and outreach program at a local community center. After completing the program she obtained a State of California Senate Certificate of Recognition in Honor of Outstanding Community Service.

After graduating from the university, Alana worked at a local charter school in the South Bay for ten years. During this time she launched and led the school’s STEAM based after school program, worked as an Attendance Technician, an ELPAC Site Coordinator, and later transitioned into a role as a Guidance Advisor where she collaborated with teachers, students, families, and community organizations to obtain the proper resources and supports to help minimize the achievement gap.

In her free time, Alana enjoys visiting themed coffee shops as well as independent book and record stores. She also enjoys going to concerts, venturing on spontaneous road trips and attending comic book conventions with her husband and daughter.
