thank you for joining us for our annual Veterans Day assembly each year this is a special gathering for our community weather in person or virtually as we honor those who have served and sacrificed for our country I clearly remember the first Veterans Day assembly 8 years ago we were still located at the Kroc Center in La Mesa and had less than 200 students at the end of our assembly we shared a slide show that featured pictures of students family members who have served in the military as the lights came up I looked out and saw many students who had tears in their eyes some who had a parent that was a way on a deployment others who had a mom or dad who was about to deploy in the coming months at Elevate service and sacrifice our talked about butter experienced by many of our families on a daily basis Veterans Day give tribute to All American veterans living and deceased but especially honors living veterans who have served our country honorably in war time and in peace it is a privilege to honor those who serve and have served our country and now our students want to share their thoughts about this important day Veterans Day started as a pharmacist day on November Sonic 1919 as the first anniversary of the end of World War 1 Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for this date to end annually be observed and November 11th became a national holiday beginning in 1930 second state pays tribute to All American veterans living and dead but especially give thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peace I'm better today is important to our school community so many of our classmates have family members who have served or are currently serving even if we don't have members of our own family in the military we all have friends in our classes with grandparents or other family you are veteran this is simple easy important time for us to say thank you to these members of our community I think service for me is parents from all around the world is going on Bishop fruit like 7 months or so to protect our country service is volunteering to protect our country to me service is when people serve others and help the community today we are saying thank you for their sacrifices and work they have given to us and the community military is also a service they are shipping out and working hard to help us so when you see a service helper like a firefighter or police officer you can say thank you because they are making a difference service helpers help the community Services when you when some people help other people what is service service is something that someone in the military does to serve a country it is polite to say thank you because it is nice and it make people happy and feel good it is important to tell them through thank you because they do so much for us is important to say thank you cuz vet veterans were it's important to say thank you because it takes others to be thinking of them it's important to say thank you for letting people know we appreciate them our class has worked in teams to create special presentations the songs poems and Reflections are to honor veterans in our school community and Beyond thank you so much for your service Brenda Raines Minnesota American an eyeball but there ain't no doubt I love this land Saturday is celebrated on November 11th each year on this day we honor those who served our country in times of War and Peace Saturn is any man or woman who has served in the military are our five branches of the United States military Army Navy Marine Corps Air Force and Coast Guard veteran thinks of others seven and our nation. Veterans Day was originally called Armistice Day it marked the end of World War 1 fighting a World War ended on the 11th north of the eleventh day of the eleventh month Veterans Day became a national holiday in 1938 and 1954, this day was renamed Veterans Day by President Eisenhower a allows us to honor all those today Americans watch parades and play flags on Veterans Graves the honor are better in our class Drew these designs veterans are our mothers and fathers their grandparents an extended family they are our friends and Neighbors today and everyday our class appreciate Yosemite that are trying to see United States you to all who served in the past now and in the future I am protecting us thank you brother has a radio station for free. BBQ right and choices to help redial redial we are dancing and Anna to go to school here for the rider is because of the sacrifices Jamaican their service to our country we are thankful to force them to speak up for myself and others we would like to say thank you to our veterans for the countless sacrifices they have made while protecting our country thank you for stepping up and choosing to dedicate your life or texting or rights and freedoms thank you for protecting our freedom to express ourselves and for filing for a right to an education summary for the love of a Christian giving to the speaker protecting our freedom to speak out no matter what race religion or gender thank thank you for staying as usual nothing at our privilege to have a free public education so that we can choose our own career path wool for Heroes proved in liberating strife Noble Nash you know we've been thinking something like this Rory Spencer Scott amber waves Majesty I'm talking about America swim America Sherrod Brown sure I love you America because Gotham Chef call me thank you all for joining us today for this assembly and thank you to all of the classes for coming up with special presentations to say thank you to our bed seeing all these photos and I just asked a discount for tonight veterans are to our Elevate Community thank you very much for teaching us about the leadership selflessness and sacrifice we hope you feel honored Veterans Day our Veterans Day assembly is always the highlight of every year at Elevate as Mr Elliott mentioned earlier we have many military families in our school community and we are honored to serve them we appreciate and there are no words to express our gratitude tattooed for the sacrifices that they and their families make you model sacrifice loyalty honor hard work and those are all things that we try and instill into our students and we thank you veteran for that free and for all you have given us
